What Cancers Are Common in Dogs And What to Watch Out For

Dogs like humans contract life-threatening and aggressive diseases like . According to veterinarian Dr. Mark Silberman, some breeds are at a higher risk of certain cancers than others.

Common Cancers in Popular Dog Breeds

Beagle – Mast cell tumor, Sebaceous gland tumor, Haemangiopericytoma, Perianal gland adenoma, Lymphosarcoma Boston – Terrier Mast cell tumor, Melanoma, Fibroma, Primary brain tumor Dalmatian – Actinic keratosis, Cutaneous haemangioma German Shepherd – Colorectal neoplasia, Sweat gland tumor, Trichoepithelioma, Anal sac adenocarcinoma, Cutaneous haemangioma, Lymphoma, Myxoma, Nasal cavity tumors, Insulinoma, Limbal melanoma, Testicular neoplasia, Thymoma   Greyhound – None, though there are signs of haemangiosarcoma Golden Retriever – Mast cell tumor, Sweat gland tumor, Trichoepithelioma, Melanoma, Haemangioma, Histiocytoma, Fibroma, Lymphosarcoma, Nasal cavity tumors, Thyroid neoplasia, Insulinoma, Primary brain tumor, Fibrosarcoma Jack Russell – Pituitary tumor Labrador Retriever – Mast cell tumor, Cutaneous histiocytoma, Sq. cell carcinoma, Nasal cavity tumors, Insulinoma, Lymphosarcoma, Limbal melanoma, Oral Fibrosarcoma, Thymoma Maltese – None Poodle – Basal cell tumor, Trichoepithelioma, Sebaceous gland tumor, Sq. cell carcinoma, Insulinoma, Pituitary tumor, Adrenalcortical tumor, Lymphosarcoma, Limbal melanoma, Oral melanoma, Testicular neoplasia Scottish Terrier – Mast cell tumor, Melanoma, Histiocytoma, Squamous cell carcinoma, Lymphoma, Primary brain tumor Shih Tsu – Sebaceous gland tumor, Perianal gland adenomas Yorkshire Terrier – Keratocanthoma, Pituitary tumor, Testicular neopla

Warning Signs

Skin cancers rank the most common cancer in dogs, while bone, blood, gastrointestinal tract and lymph nodes are also sites where cancer cells develop. Cancer accounts for almost half of the deaths of dogs older than 10 years of age. Watch out for these signs and behaviour changes which are indications that you should schedule a physical checkup at your vet’s office as soon as possible: an abnormal new lump, changes to an existing lump, sores that refuse to heal, discharge or bleeding from any opening (nose, mouth, urinary, etc), difficulty in passing motion, difficulty in breathing, vomiting and diarrhea, limping, foul breath, body odour, and loss of stamina. Remember that early detection increases your canine’s chances of survival.

Diet and Cancer

Amongst other factors, poor diet and nutrition based on processed foods are largely blamed for our modern day health problems faced by humans. Similarly this is what our furry pets are facing too – they rarely eat raw and are eating heavily processed dry foods. A change in diet especially during the time when they are suffering from cancer plays a key role in helping the animal fight cancer.

When his 11-year-old Lhasa Apso, Fergie, was diagnosed with lymphoma, a deadly cancer, Dr. Steven Eisen decided not to rely on standard veterinary care but to apply his own specialist expertise to the case and to treat his dog holistically. He knew from his prior research that a skillfully tailored diet, plus natural supplements, would often achieve cures without the downsides of conventional medicine. His instincts were validated: Fergie was restored to health, confounding her vet’s prognosis that she would live no more than six weeks by surviving for almost two and a half years and reaching normal life expectancy for her breed. Dog Cancer: The Holistic Answer describes in detail the broad protocol Dr. Eisen used to rescue Fergie from her death sentence and explains how to customize it for one’s own dog. While acknowledging that each owner must make a personal decision on the relative merits of conventional and holistic approaches, he presents a powerful case for questioning the use of toxic, invasive, and high-priced methods that too often end in grief. Unlike most books on dog cancer treatments, which are overstuffed and overwhelming to the average dog owner, this guide is tightly focused on the need to act wisely right away. In just 80 pages, Dr. Eisen clearly explains the five steps of the healing protocol, beginning with the elimination of toxins from the body, from the immediate environment, and from every item the dog consumes; continuing with the easy preparation of an anti-cancer diet; then moving on to immune enhancement, enzyme therapy, and the use of vitamins, herbs, and other supplements. The totality of information distilled by Dr. Eisen cannot currently be found in any other single source. Certain key transformative supplements, for example, are overlooked by every other book surveying the range of holistic options. For dog owners seeking a benign, proven approach to the healing of their pets’ cancer, this is the indispensable roadmap.

What Is Lymphatic Cancer (Lymphoma) and Its Treatment Effects?

Lymphatic cancer is the cancer of lymph nodes. Like all , it is the uncontrolled growth of cells in the vicinity of lymph nodes. Lymph nodes can be viewed as stopping points of lymphatic system. Lymphatic system basically carries fighting soldiers to whatever areas of your body whenever the body area is invaded or requires help to fight foreign intruders. The lymphatic system is a network of ‘highways’ starting from below the chin to the back of the neck, to underneath the armpits and then to the groin area and connects to the spinal cord.

Lymphatic cancer develops as lumps at the node areas, typically behind the neck, armpits and groin areas. Not all lymphomas grow in detectable areas. Once a lump develops careful monitoring is required. Whenever a lump occurs, it can be caused by

1) viral infection, which can be easily cured by a course of antibiotics and usually last only a week or two,
2) Tuberculosis, which detected at early stages can easily be cured, and which will require more specialized medical care and treatment,
3) Cancer, which can only be confirmed by a biopsy. If there are several lumps that have been growing for some time, it is vital to get the lumps checked out by a Hematologist. Hematologists are specialized doctors dealing with blood disorders. Lymphoma is considered as a blood disorder. For other , one would go to an oncologist.

Other noticeable signs are cold sweats at night, lost of appetite, drastic weight loss and lethargy. Sometimes these signs do not appear as in my case except for the lumps on base of the neck.
Like many other cancers, lymphomas are quite complicated and have different types and subtypes but generally lymphoma can be divided into two broad categories, namely Hodgkins and Non-Hodgkins. is much more curable and the prognosis is very good.

Conventional treatment applies for Lymphatic cancer – surgery and radiation – if the cancer is fairly isolated typically only in stage 1 (more on staging later). Chemotherapy followed by radiation for cancer that is not so widespread in the body. If the cancer is in a fairly advanced stage as in stage 3 and 4, then a full course of Chemotherapy treatment is required, as was in my case.

Staging in lymphoma is different from other types of cancer. Stage 1 is cancer found on one part in one section of the body either above or below the diaphragm. If the cancer has appeared in more than one place on same side of the diaphragm, then it has gone to stage 2. Stage 3 means the cancer has spread to the abdomen and groin areas above and below the diaphragm. Stage 4 means that the cancer has been detected in the bone marrow. Stage 3 is already considered advanced stage.

Once a biopsy has confirmed that a tumour is cancerous, a CT scan is usually performed to stage the cancer. In lymphomas, a bone marrow tap is usually done to check if the bone marrow carries the cancer as well. CT scans are also performed at regular intervals during Chemotherapy to determine the treatment’s efficacy. If the current treatment is not effective, doctors will switch to another Chemotherapy regimen. At the end of the treatment, a final CT scan and PET scan are conducted to confirm absence of cancerous cells. The words “No cancerous cells detected” are the sweetest words one can ask for.

Chemotherapy treatment can last between six to eight months and a month more to recuperate from the onslaught of Chemotherapy. Most people will give up work to focus on the treatment. As in my case, Chemotherapy was once every two weeks. The first week immediately after Chemotherapy is the worst.

Most of the time, I was too weak to keep awake. As time passed, strength returned and by the second week, I could manage a short walk. After that the whole process starts all over again.
Towards the end of the Chemotherapy, the body would have been pretty badly savaged by the Chemo poison. One often lands up feeling very different after Chemotherapy, and it takes months to get back toany normalcy. The speed of recovery from Chemotherapy really depends on one’s physical and mental strength.

Chemotherapy, as it is often called – “It is a marathon”

Is Lympatic cancer Curable?

Since there are many different lymphatic cancers, the curability of each case will vary. When lymphoma is caught in an early stage, the cure rate is higher. However, the overall cure rate for all lymphomas, in both men and women, are quite high.

Cure Rates Based On Stage Of Detection

Localized (Still in one location, has not metastasized) – Accounts for 38% of all cases; 5-year survival rate is 82.1%

Distant (Metastasis has occured) – 45% of all lymphatic cancer cases are of this variety. 59.9% is the 5-year survival rate.

Regional (has spread to the regional lymph nodes – 77.5% is the cure rate and this type accounts for 19 of all lymphoma cases.

Unknown (Unstaged) – 67.5% cure rate accounting for 8% of cases.

There are a plethora of types of NHL () and the possibility of cure is dependent on the specific diagnosis.

Prognosis can also be different even in the same sub type of NHL.

Even in an individual who has a well-categorized case of lymphatic cancer, the survival rate and time can be hard to guess.

Is lymphatic cancer curable for anybody?

Cure rates depend greatly on many factors.

Thus, the answer is yes and no because it depends on what type of lymphoma one has, what lymphoma stages it may be in, the lymphoma grade, the general health of the patient, response to treatment and of course a dash of luck.

For people with quick growing lymphatic cancers types (for example, diffuse large B cell lymphoma), the lymphatic cancer can be potentially resolved with combination chemotherapy. However, for those individuals who respond poorly to treatment or have an early relapse, the lymphoma can be deadly in a rather short period of time. The slowly growing lymphomas are incurable with regular chemo, yet patients can live with them for years and years.

Much of deciding how to treat a specific lymphatic cancer  is based on simply observing the patient closely to see how the disease progresses so that an appropriate course of action can be prescribed.

Is Lymphatic cancer curable with chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, bone marrow transplants, etc?

Typically, one or a combination of these treatments will be used, depending upon the factors discussed above. The symptoms of lymphatic cancer in women will vary greatly but will not necessarily provide an indication of the level of advancement of the cancer nor the potential curability of the disease. Generally speaking, lymphatic cancer has a better than 50% cure rate and this is certainly something to be grateful for.

Some Lymphatic Cancer Symptoms

Lymphatic is a kind of cancer that affects the patient’s lymphatic cells. These are part of the immune system. Naturally, it is a serious medical condition. Someone that has this cancer may show lymphatic cancer  symptoms. Do keep in mind, however, that a person could have this malignancy without displaying any of the symptoms mentioned here. Also, what you read on this page isn’t a complete list — nor is it, of course, intended to be used in place of advice from a doctor.

Anemia

The condition known as anemia may develop as one of the lymphatic cancer symptoms. While anemia can refer to multiple situations, in many cases it is an instance of fewer than normal red blood cells in the individual’s blood. This can medically occur in multiple ways: whether by a lack of sufficient production of them, by their destruction in high amounts, or by a the loss of a significantly high amount of blood. These, at least, are the three main ways in which it can occur.

Aside from lymphatic cancer, other medical causes of anemia are also possible. For instance, it may be due do a deficiency in vitamin B12. In this case, the condition is labeled as the pernicious form.

Shortness of breath

A person who has lymphoma may also experience breathlessness as a symptom. This is far from the only medical cause, however. Congestive heart failure is another possible reason. It can also occur in instances of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which is where chronic bronchitis and emphysema are present at once. Asthma is also a reason behind shortness of breath. Pneumonia and many other medical reasons can also be behind it. There are various diagnostic methods that can be used to look for or rule out possible causes, with a chest X-ray being one of the possibilities. There may be particular treatment methods that are aimed at this cause, if it is found.

Lymphatic cancer symptoms are more numerous than those contained on this page. Visit LymphomaSymptoms.org to read about more.

We are entering a new era of understanding the lymphatic system based on important insights from experimental investigations and clinical trials. To achieve a cure, cancer therapies (whether by surgery, radiotherapy or systemic means) must be directed against the routes of cancer spread. The management of the regional lymphatic/lymph nodes, often the first site of involvement, is frequently a key decision in defining modern treatment programmes. Important new insights now challenge the basis of traditional cancer therapy recommendations. This volume brings together foremost authorities to outline the latest results in the management of the lymphatic system in cancer.

It is essential to know all of the intricate lymph pathways when performing surgery for esophageal cancer in order to determine the extent of lymph node metastasis. Professor Sato has undertaken, at the request of the TNM Research Committee of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus, to map out and classify the lymph nodes of the mediastinum and neck. The beautiful artwork in the Color Atlas of Surgical Anatomy for Esophageal Cancer edited by Professor Sato gives an excellent understanding of the lymph node pathways and their importance in surgical treatment. Minute dissections which represent real life situations, not just the superficial pathways, show the precise location and topographical arrangement of the lymphatics. Full-color schematics are given with the actual dissection illustrations and photographs. The atlas clearly presents the classification of four significant pathways and their communication, the relationship of these pathways en route to the venous angles and the definition and assessment of the most critical nodes. Thoracic surgeons especially will benefit from the excellent illustrations of surgical techniques and the methods for recording the dissected lymph nodes which are presented by Professor Kakegawa. Leading experts fighting esophageal cancer with surgical treatment can use the classification in this outstanding atlas for many years to come as a standard for international comparison. The careful dissection of the lymph nodes may be the best way to improve survival rates after surgery for cancer of the thoracic esophagus.

Dendritic Cell Vaccines for Cancer

vaccines are beginning to gain more interest in the medical community. Research into vaccines is continuing to grow and many clinical trials are currently underway. The premise behind a vaccine is to help the body’s immune system fight off and protect itself from any type of infectious agents, including cells. The FDA has in fact already approved of two vaccines. One is known as Gardasil, which protects against the human papillomavirus. The other is a prostate vaccine known as Provenge. Clinical trials are using vaccines to treat lymphomas, breast, brain, kidney, melanoma, leukemia, prostate, pancreatic, lung, kidney and cervical cancers and well as solid tumors.

Cancer vaccines work by protecting the body from infection. They are based on antigens that are commonly carried by infectious agents. These antigens are easy for the immune system to recognize as foreign. One particularly powerful cancer vaccine that can potentially outsmart the cancer cell is known as a dendritic cell vaccine.

The Problem with Cancer Cells and How Dendritic Cell Vaccines Can Help: The immune system often does not “see” cancer cells as dangerous or foreign, as it generally does with microbes. Therefore, the immune system does not mount a strong attack. Cancer cells develop genetic changes that create a “chemical message”. This can essentially trick the killer T cells of the body to not mount an assault against them because they cannot recognize them as dangerous. So although the body will attack the cancer cells the immune system may not do so as strongly as it does when it detects various other rogue cells.

The immune system contains Dendritic cells: These cells help to identify pathogens in the body. In a healthy immune system there are specific cells whose sole purpose is to defend the body against disease. Additionally, these specialized cells maintain a “memory” and will be able to recognize dangerous microbes or cells if they ever return again. The concept of the dendritic cell vaccine is to work with this natural response that already occurs in the human body. Dendritic cells will locate viruses and . Once identified they will produce the antigen to the body’s t-lymphocyte cells. These t-lymphocytes will then begin to multiply and attack the invading cells.

The Dendritic Cell Vaccine: The dendritic cell vaccine became approved for use by the FDA in 2010 and is in clinical trials. This vaccine involves a very specific process. Dendritic Blood cells are extracted from a patient and then processed in a laboratory setting to produce them in large amounts. They are then exposed to the antigens of the patient’s cancer cells. Then the cells are reinjected back into the patient where they are attempting to program the cells to now respond more aggressively against the cancerous cells.

The Dendritic Cell Vaccines Stimulates the immune system. The vaccine is designed to activate the B and T killer cells to recognize and attack the cancer cells. B cells work by making an antibody which destroys bad cells. Killer T cells will make the invader cell self destruct through a process known as “apoptosis”. The dendritic cell acts in a supporting role to the B and killer T cells by helping to activate them more effectively.

Potential Side Effects: Dendritic Vaccines are generally considered safe but may have side effects depending on individual response. These can include itchiness or rash, weakness or more seriously, occasionally breathing difficulties. Any treatment that impacts on the immune system may of course carry more serious risks although not common which can be life threatening.

Combining Conventional Treatments with Dendritic Cell Vaccines: Many of the current clinical trials are using the vaccine in combination with traditional therapies such as chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. Some trial results are indicating an overall increase in the effectiveness of other treatments. Research is being conducted to determine when a cancer vaccine works best when given along with conventional therapies in order to produce optimal immune system responses.

The Future: Much research is being conducted to understand just how cancer cells are able to avoid or even suppress a powerful immune system attack on them. Work is being done on developing vaccines and other mechanisms to override this response of the immune system. Combining a vaccine such as the dendritic cell vaccine with such other novel treatments may be able to greatly improve the ability of the body to find and destroy the cancer cells. As more and more cancer vaccines are being developed researchers are hopeful to one day be able to provide more answer to this suffering with cancer.

Signs And Symptoms Of Lymphatic Cancer

It’s important that everyone knows the signs and because it can save your life.  Signs and symptoms can be similar to other, less serious illnesses, making diagnosis sometimes challenging.  is often misdiagnosed as a flu or fatigue. However an early diagnosis is important, because if untreated, some types of can be fatal within a short period of time.

By knowing your nodes, you will better understand your lymphatic system, as well as know the signs and symptoms of lymphoma.  If signs and symptoms are detected early, there is a better chance for quicker diagnosis, treatment and overall survival.

The signs and symptoms of non-Hodgkin lymphoma vary from person to person depending on the type of lymphoma and where a tumor is located. Some people may feel stomach pain, constipation, and decreased appetite. Others may have trouble breathing, difficulty swallowing, and notice coughing, wheezing, or chest pain.

Symptoms  of  Lymphatic  Cancer may include:

  • painless swollen lymph nodes
  • fever, chills, or night sweats
  • itchy skin
  • weight loss despite eating normally
  • tiredness
  • bone or joint pain
  • recurring infections

Lymphatic cancer is also known as lymphoma and occurs in two different forms: Hodgkin’s lymphoma and Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Lymph Nodes

One of the main Symptoms  of  Lymphatic  Cancer is painless swelling of the lymph nodes in the neck, armpit and groin.

Flu-like Symptoms

Lymphomas also commonly present with symptoms that resemble the flu, including a fever, night sweats and chills.

Fatigue

Another common  Lymphatic  Cancer  Symptoms  is persistent and chronic fatigue that is otherwise unexplainable.

Other Systemic Symptoms

Lymphatic cancer can also cause a sudden loss of appetite as well as rapid weight loss.

Diagnosis

The definitive sign of lymphatic cancer comes from taking a biopsy of a swollen and finding abnormal or cancerous cells when this tissue sample is viewed under a microscope.

Lymphatic Cancer Treatment

Lymphatic cancers (also known as lymphomas) are cancers of the body’s immune system. Lymphomas can be divided into two categories: Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which have slightly different characteristics and cancer treatment plans.

Surgery

Radiation

Chemotherapy

Immunotherapy

Stem Cell Transplants

Lymphatic cancer treatment for most patients with early stage Hodgkin’s disease is high-energy radiation of the lymph nodes. Research has shown that radiation therapy to large areas at high doses (3,500 to 4,500 rads) is more effective in preventing relapse than radiation of the diseased nodes alone.

Combination chemotherapy also is effective in the treatment of early stage Hodgkin’s disease. In addition, chemotherapy is the treatment of choice for advanced (stages III and IV) Hodgkin’s disease and for patients who have relapsed after radiotherapy. Drugs and radiation are sometimes given together, mainly in treating patients with tumors in the chest or abdomen.

Lymphatic cancer or lymphoma is cancer of the lymph nodes or lymph glands. The most common treatments for lymph node cancer are chemotherapy and radiation. However, some people have opted for natural treatments in hopes to cure the disease.

Fruit Juices

To help in the lymphatic cancer treatment, fruit juices and water will help by detoxifying the body according to practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine. While detoxifying your body it is advised not to consume any coffee or alcohol.

Vegetables

Traditional Chinese medical professionals believe there are many vegetables that can assist in detoxifying the body such as carrots, beets and mushrooms. By eating a combination of vegetables you are not only detoxifying your body, you are also healing your body of other possible ailments.

Echinacea

Echinacea may help in boosting the immune system and has been prescribed by professionals for several decades. Whether deciding to use all natural treatments or using medical treatments, echinacea will help in keeping the immune system working to prevent contracting other diseases and viruses.

Pau d’Arco

Pau d’arco will aide in preventing and coping with any pain that you may feel with lymphatic cancer. Pau d’arco is taken orally three to five times a day.

Red Clover

Red clover is taken orally. Red clover works as a detoxifier by ridding the body of unnecessary toxins in the body. Many physicians prescribe red clover when a patient is undergoing chemotherapy treatments, per “Herbal Remedies.”

Baths

Steam baths and cold baths help release tense muscles. The use of baths both steam and cold also help in detoxifying the body. Some choose to use salts in their baths to promote invigorating skin.

In human solid cancer, the lymph node (LN) status is the most important prognostic indicator for the clinical outcome of patients. Recent developments in the sentinel lymph node (SLN) concept and technology have resulted in the application of this revolutionary approach to define the first draining or SLN to which the cancer may have metastasized.

The underlying thesis in solid cancer biology is that metastasis generally starts in an orderly progression, spreading through the lymphatic channels to the SLN in the nearest LN basin. Thus, the logical approach is to harvest that specific SLN for thorough analysis. Because a tumorfree SLN is usually associated with a negative residual LN basin, a negative SLN is an excellent indication that micrometastasis has not occurred in the regional LNs.

When the SLN is involved, it is unknown whether or not metastasis is limited only to the SLN or if the disease has spread to the remainder of the nodal basin. For this reason, if a SLN is positive, a complete lymph node dissection is recommended. Therefore, selective sentinel lymphadenectomy (SSL) should be considered as a staging procedure so that patients with negative SLNs (about 80%) may be spared an extensive LN dissection. Malignant melanoma has been proven to be the most ideal tumor model to study the role of SLN.

Subsequently, SSL has been applied to breast cancer, colon cancer and other types of solid cancer. The multidisciplinary approach encompassing the surgeon, nuclear medicine physician, and pathologist is the key to such a successful procedure. Such a team can be formed readily with appropriate training. Beyond the technical aspects of harvesting the SLN, the implication of micrometastasis remains to be defined. Because the follow-up of melanoma and breast cancer patients after SSL is crucial, ongoing clinical trials are in progress to determine the biological and clinical significance of SLNs.

Although the concept of SLN is viable in other types of cancer, such as gynecological and gastrointestinal, the technical aspects of the procedure need to be perfected and verified. The most exciting possibility of SSL is that it will lead to early diagnosis of micrometastasis in regional LNs. Early diagnosis makes it useful as a clinical staging procedure, and opens up new opportunities to study micrometastasis and its evolution within the SLNs.

Examining the multifaceted aspects of micrometastasis, such as differentiation of different clones with respect to the primary tumor, acquisition of adhesion molecules, and host interaction with the microscopic tumor, will shed new light on the biology of early metastasis. New molecular and genetic tools may be used to dissect the mechanisms of lymphatic and hemo togenous routes of metastasis.

If such mechanisms can be understood, new therapeutic advances may be developed to prevent the process of micrometastasis. Rather than targeting larger tumor burdens such as Stage IV disease, targeted adjuvant clinical trials can be developed for high risk patients following definit ive surgical resection. SSL is a standard staging procedure for patients with melanoma and is rapidly evolving into a standard procedure for breast cancer as well.

Grape Seed Extract: Cancer Prevention Super Supplement?

If you have been looking for a “super supplement” to reduce cancer risk, recent research suggests that grape seed extract just might be it. Three new studies published this year have shown that this supplement may profoundly reduce the risk of at least three major cancers: skin cancer (SCC), prostate cancer and hematologic cancers. This list is likely to expand as ongoing lab research is pointing to a protective role against several other cancers as well.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) – 74% Risk Reduction

SCC is the second leading type of skin cancer after basal cell carcinoma, (the next most frequent being melanoma). Previous lab studies with mice showed that grape seed extract applied topically actually reduced skin damage when the mice were exposed to UV light, and implied a cancer-protective effect. But direct evidence in humans was only provided recently, by a case-control study carried out in northern California on 830 participants. The study found that users of this supplement had a 74% reduced risk of developing SCC. Multivitamin users also experienced 29% reduced risk of SCC, but this was considered to be borderline significant by the researchers. Other supplements taken by the participants included vitamins A, C, D, and E, none of which had a significant effect of SCC risk. It is interesting that some sunblock lotions are now formulated with grape seed oil, but you can’t assume this will protect you. The protective effect in this study came only with taking the supplement orally.

Prostate Cancer – 62% Risk Reduction

As with skin cancer, numerous laboratory studies have shown for years that grape seed extract directly induced programmed cell death of prostate cancer cells and also inhibited their growth via several pathways. The question always remained, however, if grape seed extract would be effective in suppressing prostate cancer in human patients. The answer appears to be ‘yes’ according to a very large study published recently. This study was conducted in Washington State on 35,239 men, and started in year 2000. It is known as the VITamins and Lifestyle (VITAL) cohort. The participants were aged 50-76 years, and all answered questionnaires about specialty supplement use for the 10 years prior to the start of the study. Of all the supplements taken, grape seen extract was by far the winner for protecting against prostate cancer. Men who reported using an individual grape seed extract supplement with “high average use” over 10 years saw a 62% reduction of prostate cancer risk compared to non-users, while “average users” saw a 41% risk reduction. Unfortunately, the dosage levels being used were not reported.

Hematologic Cancers – 43% Risk Reduction

Hematologic cancers include leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Several studies in the lab have already shown that grape seed extract can kill several lines of cultured human leukemia cells, however no studies were done yet on myeloma or lymphoma. This study also drew on the same VITAL cohort as above, but also included women in the analysis, which brought the population up to 66,227 participants. Those who had “ever used” grape seed supplements saw a 43% risk reduction for hematologic cancers. This was only matched by those with a high use of garlic, who saw a 47% reduction of risk. No other supplements offered significant protection.

Other cancers may soon be added to the list as research continues. Just as with the above cancers, early lab-scale research has already shown that grape seed extract can kill breast cancer, , gioblastoma, and NSC lung cancer cells. The ultimate test of effectiveness in fighting cancer will come from clinical trials, and the above results are so recent there has not been time to initiate such trials. That’s not the case with breast cancer, however. Grape seed extract has been known as natural aromatase inhibiter for years, which makes it a logical choice to test against breast cancer. A Phase I clinical trial at the Mayo Clinic to test the effect of 200 mg – 800 mg daily dose on the estrogen levels in postmenopausal women has recently been concluded and should soon produce results. Until then, it is worthy to note that women in the VITAL cohort were indeed already assessed for breast cancer risk versus grape seed extract use. Although the supplement seemed to provide a 20% risk reduction for breast cancer, the researchers deemed the effect non-significant statistically. Ultimately we must wait for clinical trials to prove the effectiveness of this supplement in preventing and perhaps even treating the cancers mentioned above. But until then, the findings to date make a compelling case for including grape seed extract in any program or supplement regimen meant to reduce cancer risk.

Many people have actually reversed their cancer, by doing nothing more this change their eating habits. One hundred years ago as cancer rarely we all ate was fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh bread, that flour, which was refined on grass not in the range of beef, fresh eggs from free raised was Sapphire coast and pasteurized cow’s milk, which was not. But today, most of our food is processed, it is laden with salt and refined sugar, and most of our contains many of thousand additives, food, to increase the durability and to sell it to be added.

The reason why cancer food is related to is that the typical Western diet strongly acid which means that there is an imbalance within the body. Acid foods are flour, cake, biscuits and cookies, cheese, ice cream, bacon, alcohol and sugary drinks. The cancer creates the problem our unnatural diet and way of life.

A plant-based, of which many as cancer fight is the food we should eat foods have been tagged. This should be the mainstay of your diet and all these foods are alkaline. At the top of the list, cruciferous vegetables, which one of them, is broccoli all fresh fruit, salads, pumpkin, potatoes, tomatoes, onions and citrus fruit are other examples. A strict diet of our natural food, which is intended for people that can work wonders in eliminating cancer course.

The highest breast and prostate cancer to play in the world are in the land of Iceland. The people there are all the blame faulty genes, and it is simply something that is beyond their control, but the main reason the wrong eating habits is to blame. Lies so far North, they can not grow fresh fruits and vegetables, and what little is available is further south from warmer countries delivered. The diet of these people is food especially meat, fish and dairy products, and they very little of the plant based diet that is full of phytochemicals known to to keep cancer at Bay.

We all have from God was a self-help mechanism, that is your immune system and it will help the body, that of course remove cancer. You do this, the right food and other simple lifestyle changes.

Massages and Energy Medicines Used As Alternative Cancer Cures

Practical manipulation of the body

They are based on the manipulation or stimulation of one or more parts of the body with curative intent from several sources: the reactivation energy the muscle stimulation, stretching, the lymphatic drainage, the relaxation, while in others such as chiropractic care when handling violently the vertebrae to stimulate the immune system.

Massage:

This term refers to the manipulation of body tissues with the hands or special tools to get a relaxation of the patient, the most famous are:

• Myofascial Massage
• Massage Cranio-sacral
• Shiatsu
• Thai Massage
• Neuromuscular Massage
• Swedish massage

Manual Reflexology: some points are stimulated manually or through hands and feet to induce a reflex type neurophysiological areas of the body away.

Vertebral manipulations: in cancer patients, chiropractic, osteopathic and manual medicine should always be avoided because of the high risk of fractures
vertebral metastases, even in the presence of negative radiological examinations.

“Energy Medicines” are based on transcendental theories under which the body has energy fields that can be modified or stimulated to stimulate healing. Those who practice these disciplines use the pressure of the hands or move the body so to stimulate these energy fields. In reality today there is no rational evidence for these scientific disciplines.

Tai Chi: It consists of gentle movements and gentle especially concentrated on breathing and mental concentration.

Reiki is balancing life energy by placing hands on or near the patient.

Polar Therapy: is a system based on manipulation and stretching exercises which should redress the balance and remove blockages between the two poles of the body: positive (the head) and negative (feet).

Bioenergetic Medicine: with various hand tools, physicists are trying to restore the energy of the individual changes.

Therapeutic Touch or pranotherapy: move hands so to change the body’s energy fields.

Please remember to follow the following general rules in your evaluation of which treatment you may take.

1. If you are already following one of these medicines or therapies speak to your doctor or your oncologist.
2. If you think that one of these therapies might be useful, talk first with your doctor or your oncologist.
3. Never trust miracle cures.
4. Never trust the articles, books and all those who in principle disparage or lead to distrust of conventional medicine.
5. Beware of anyone who advises you to stop conventional therapy.

Please help anyone with positive news that there is always hope even to cure cancer, even with alternative cures and therapies.
